Hungry for whimsy, beauty, imagination, love? Need some good entertainment, but don’t have time to read a whole book?
If you have a couple of hours, I’ve got you covered.
The movie: This Beautiful Fantastic.
I’m usually all about book recommendations here. However, this movie shares so many values I hold high—I couldn’t NOT recommend it.
Whimsy, imagination, beauty, love — all qualities you’ll find in Piper Pan and Her Merry Band. By the way—since this is a big gift-giving time of year, remember my books for fantasy adventure readers and fans of girl heroes on your gift list. They are available on Amazon. (Book one here, book two here.)
Here’s the summary for This Beautiful Fantastic:
When her landlord forces librarian and aspiring author Bella Brown to clean up her overgrown garden, she meets grumpy elderly neighbor Alfie Stephenson, who’s an avid horticulturalist — and an unlikely friendship is born.
The cast is excellent: Jessica Brown Findlay, Tom Wilkinson, Andrew Scott.
The heroine is working in a library while she gains the courage to write her children’s book. Ah… a character close to my heart!
My absolute favorite moment involves a paper bird that flies. It’s magical—and worthy of the same awe I felt the first time I saw Peter Pan fly on stage. Wonderful!
