Wanna know how to write a novel? In some ways it boils down to: “Just do it!” Here’s your chance…
November is National Novel Writing Month. Here’s a quick description, from www.nanowrimo.org:
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing.
On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.
Valuing enthusiasm, determination, and a deadline, NaNoWriMo is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.
NaNoWriMo is a brilliant example of “organized creativity,” and of using deadlines and social support/pressure to overcome the natural inertia that plagues all of us when we decide to do something wonderful for ourselves. You can be a part of it all on your own, from anywhere in the world, just by visiting NanoWriMo’s site and jumping in to the fray.
But this kind of social energy can be even better in person. Locally, North Olympic Library System (NOLS) is putting their oar in the pond—providing a place and times for writers to convene. They’re offering scheduled open writing space “weekly write-ins,” as well as events and workshops with authors for inspiration and guidance. Click here to read about all their offerings.
I get to be one of those featured authors, at the Sequim Branch of NOLS on Friday, November 20th at 6pm, a free event. I’ll be talking about “Tips, Tricks, and Traps of a Creative Writer’s Trade.” I’ll be reading from my first book, The Curse of the Neverland, as well as sharing my writing journey along with many of the ins and outs of what I have learned so far as a writer.
I have 20 writing resource books of all sorts and angles that I will be giving away to those who come and participate in the event! I would love to have that include YOU!
